 Kellen and the Pro Motorsports team ventured to one of the biggest IMCA Modified events of the season this past weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 17th annual Duel in the Desert, paying $7,777 to the winner.
Over 200 Modifieds converged on Sin City for the three night affair with 20 heat races, 10 b-mains and 2 a-feature qualifiers each night. Thursday night, Kellen raced from 7th to third in his 8-lap heat race, putting his #83 onto the pole for his b-main. Kellen raced with the leaders for much of the b-main, but was unable to transfer into the night's feature event, ending his night early. Friday night, Kellen again raced near the front of the field in his heat race, finishing a solid second, locking him into the 13th starting spot for the night's a-feature qualifier. During the 25-lap feature, Kellen raced his way into the top ten and then was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was involved in a grinding crash, ending his night with heavy damage to his machine. Kellen scratched from Saturday's action to make repairs to the car.
