June 17th, 2016 - Chadwick Charges to Wild West Modified Shootout Speedweek Championship
|
Over 90 IMCA Modified competitors from eight states and Canada competed in the week-long tour, which visited 6 tracks across California, Oregon and Washington, with only one falling victim to rain after heat races were completed. Kellen started off the week at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR on June 11th with a pair of second place finishes in his heat race and in the tour's opening night main event. June 12th, the team made their way to the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, California and Kellen swept action, racing to his first feature win of the season in his new RAGE Chassis.
The following night was the opening of a 2-night doubleheader at the Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR and Kellen again swept action, racing to his second straight feature win. Night two at Cottage Grove the following night saw rain showers slow the program down a bit and hamper Kellen's win streak as well as he raced to a 4th place finish in his heat and 14th in the night's feature on a narrow and hammer down surface.
The following night, the team made their way to the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR where Kellen won his heat race but the night's features were rained out and not rescheduled.
Friday, June 16th team made their way to the Sunset Speedway in Banks, OR where once again Kellen swept racing action and dominated the feature for his third win of the week and took a commanding point lead into the final night, which was the tour's only stop in Washington at the Grey's Harbor Raceway in Elma.
Kellen raced to a second place finish in his heat race and only needed to finish 20th or better in the night's main event to secure his first ever tour title, but Kellen was not going to just race for points, he wanted to cap off the weekend with a victory and that is exactly what he did. The track was tricky because of morning rains, but Kellen bided his time and stormed to his 4th win of the week, tying the most wins in one week in series history with 4 and racing all the way back to his hometown of Oakley, California with the points championship that went along with the week long tour. Chadwick's championship was by a whopping 93 point margin - the largest in series history as well. |
June 12th, 2016 - Chadwick Adds Win Number Two at Siskiyou Motor Speedway
|
Kellen and his Pro Motorsports team have embarked on the Wild West Modified Speedweek this week, which is a 7 race series over 8 days across Oregon, Northern California and Washington. The first stop on the series saw Kellen race at the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR on Saturday night and come home with a runner up finish in the night's main event. The WWMS runs a pair of qualifying heat races to set up the main event and Kellen ran second in both heat races before starting 5th and battling for the lead for much of the main event, eventually coming up about 6 feet short of the victory and settling for second. Sunday night, the series moved to the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, California and Kellen raced to a heat race victory and a second place finish in his second heat race, setting him up as the high point’s driver in passing points and putting him 6th in the starting lineup for the night's main event. Kellen then wasted no time blasting from his third row starting spot to the top three and then worked his way into second mid-race. Kellen then was able to sweep by in to the lead and take command to win the second stop on the WWMS. |
